You search “wsup ai,” find an app in the App Store with a 4.5 rating, and download it. The listing is live, but the service behind it shut down in June 2026.
“WSUP AI” now names two unrelated AI character-chat products. The original wsup.ai was published by Game.tv Inc. and is closed. The newer WSUP AI at wsupai.app launched in July 2026, says it is not affiliated with the first one, and names no company or team. This guide separates the two, covers what is free and what is unpublished, and lists the privacy questions to settle before you type anything personal. Everything here reflects what I read on official pages and store listings on November 2, 2026.
Which WSUP AI is which?
The two products share a name and almost nothing else. The table below is the quickest way to tell them apart.
| Original wsup.ai | New WSUP AI | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | wsup.ai | wsupai.app |
| Publisher | Game.tv Inc. (named on the App Store and Google Play) | No company, legal entity or team named on the site |
| Platforms | iOS, Android and web | Browser (the vendor describes it as a browser product) |
| Status as of November 2026 | Closed. The new service’s own account says it closed on June 19, 2026 | Live, and describes itself as a “preview” in its privacy policy |
| Store listings | Still visible on both stores, with a “Final update” or “Final release” label | No store app found in the listings reviewed |
What most people miss: the App Store and Google Play pages you can still open belong to the old, closed product. The 4.5 on the App Store (114 ratings) and the roughly 3.6 to 3.7 on Google Play (10K+ downloads) describe the old app. They tell you nothing about wsupai.app.

What happened to the original wsup.ai?
It wound down in May 2026 and closed on June 19. The dates below come from the new WSUP AI’s launch post, which is not neutral, plus the store listings. Both stores show their final updates in May.
| Date | Event | Source type |
|---|---|---|
| May 19, 2026 | Google Play listing last updated, labeled “Final release” | Google Play listing |
| May 21, 2026 | iOS version 0.0.75, labeled “Final update” | App Store listing |
| May 24, 2026 | Last day of active character chats | New WSUP AI’s account |
| May 25 to June 18, 2026 | Read-only period | New WSUP AI’s account |
| June 19, 2026 | Service closed | New WSUP AI’s account |
| July 30, 2026 | New WSUP AI publishes its launch announcement | wsupai.app blog |
One Google Play reviewer wrote on July 1, 2026 that the app had closed weeks earlier and was still listed. Independent write-ups also say the old domain now redirects to Game.tv’s Now.gg site. I could not confirm that redirect directly, so check it yourself if it matters.
If you had credits, characters or chat history on the old service, the new WSUP AI says none of it transferred. Neither site’s pages I read describe a refund process.
What is the new WSUP AI?
It is a browser-based AI character chat. According to the vendor, you pick a character, read its opening message and reply, with no account needed for the first conversation. The home page showed 2,192 characters when I read it. The largest groups were Fan / Unofficial (700), Romance (470), Roleplay (343), Anime (309) and Companion (236).
The vendor lists these features:
- Character-specific voice replies that play on demand
- AI-generated image replies
- Regeneration of the latest reply, including the opening message
- Short silent “motion portraits” for selected characters
- An AI-assisted character creator, with public or private publishing
- Swipe browsing, favorites and search
These are claims from the vendor’s own pages. Nothing I read gives independent evidence of how well any of them work. The site also does not name the AI models behind the chat.
Is the new WSUP AI free?
Starting is free, but the full cost is not published. The vendor’s pages describe the first reply or first conversation as free, with no signup. Signing in is described as adding saved history, saved characters and higher image and audio allowances.
Here is what I could and could not confirm:
| Question | What the official pages say |
|---|---|
| Is there a pricing page? | None found on wsupai.app |
| Is a paid plan listed? | Not on the pages I read |
| What are the “higher allowances” for signed-in users? | No numbers published |
| What are the free limits? | Not published |
| What does Capterra say? | Its listing shows a starting price of US$0, “Free version available”, and 0 user reviews |
A small detail with real consequences: the Terms of Service say “the first reply is free and does not require signup.” The launch post says no account is needed for “the first conversation.” Those are not the same thing. Expect to hit a login prompt sooner than the marketing suggests, and I could not verify exactly when.
Capterra’s own pages also disagree with each other. The Canadian version lists web-based deployment only, while a UK version lists Android and iPhone as well. The vendor describes a browser product, so treat the mobile listing as likely carried over from the old app.
Is WSUP AI safe?
Safe enough for casual use with nothing sensitive in it, but there are gaps. Here is what the privacy policy and terms (both marked “Last updated June 2026”) actually say:
- What is collected: chat messages, generated replies, Firebase account identifiers, technical device data and basic analytics events.
- Who can read chats: the policy says admins “may review recent conversations” to operate and improve the preview.
- Deletion: users “should be able to request” access, correction, export or deletion “when full accounts launch.” That is a future promise, not a current right.
- Cookie: a strictly necessary cookie called wsup_bid is kept for up to 400 days. The policy says it is used for abuse protection and generation limits, not advertising.
- Moderation: the terms say the product may moderate unsafe content, rate-limit abuse and change beta features.
Then there are the things the pages don’t say:
- No named operator. There is no company, address or founder on the site. If something goes wrong, you do not know who is accountable.
- No stated minimum age. The terms and privacy pages I read give no age requirement and describe no age check. The home page carries an “Unfiltered” switch labeled “Turn off to hide explicit characters,” which suggests explicit characters appear unless you switch it off. Parents should treat it as an adult-oriented product.
- Real-person names. The Fan / Unofficial section includes characters named after real public figures. That is a reason for extra caution about what you write and what you generate.
For comparison, the old app’s store labels pointed to heavier data collection. Apple’s privacy label for it listed location, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics as possible tracking data. Google’s page said no data is shared with third parties. Those two developer-supplied declarations don’t line up, and Apple notes it has not verified its version.
Practical rule: use a throwaway nickname, share nothing you would not post publicly, and do not treat a fictional companion as a private diary.
Should you install the “wsup.ai” app from the App Store or Google Play?
No. Both listings are for the closed Game.tv product. Apple labels it 18+ and Google rates the same app 12+, so even the age ratings disagree. Installing it gets you a defunct service and, at best, nothing useful. I found no evidence that wsupai.app has a store app.
Myth vs fact
Search results for this keyword are crowded with near-identical articles on unrelated domains. They make claims like “lightning accuracy” and “error rates below 2% on benchmark datasets.” I found no benchmark, paper or vendor page that supports those numbers, and they do not fit an entertainment chat product. Several of those pages also describe the product as a business or data-analysis tool, which neither the old nor the new service claims to be.
| Claim you may see | What the evidence shows |
|---|---|
| “WSUP AI achieves error rates below 2%” | No published benchmark found. Treat as unverified |
| “It’s a productivity and data-analysis assistant” | Both products describe character chat and roleplay |
| “It remembers and grows smarter with use” | The new vendor mentions conversation memory for coherent scenes. No technical detail is published |
| “WSUP AI is the same as wsup.ai” | The new vendor says it is a separate product. I found no evidence of shared ownership |
| “wsup.ai is still working” | The vendor of the successor says it closed June 19, 2026 |
Also check that you are not looking for something else. Searches for “wsup ai” also surface Washington State University AI pages, which are unrelated.
Who should try it, and who should skip it
Try it if you want a no-signup, low-commitment character chat, you are an adult, and you are fine with a very new service that may change or disappear.
Skip it if:
- You need an accountable company behind the product
- You want documented deletion rights
- You need clear, published pricing
- You are looking for a tool for work or study
- You want a space suitable for minors
The five-point WSUP check
This is an original checklist built from the gaps above. Run it before trusting any new character-chat site, not just this one.
| Check | Why it matters | Result for wsupai.app (Nov 2, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Is there a named operator? | Accountability and legal recourse | No |
| Is pricing published? | Avoids surprise paywalls | No |
| Can you delete your data today? | Control over your chats | Described as a future feature |
| Is there a stated minimum age? | Basic safety for younger users | Not found |
| Is it past the “preview” stage? | Stability of features and accounts | No, it calls itself a preview |

Alternatives worth comparing
If you want a more established option, these reviews on this site cover other companion and roleplay chat services: Nomi AI, Kindroid, SpicyChat and CrushOn AI. Starting a chat is free and needs no account. Beyond that, no pricing page or free-tier limits are published as of November 2026.
Does WSUP AI have an app?
The app listings on the App Store and Google Play are for the closed original. I found no store app for the new service, which describes itself as browser-based.
Can I get my old wsup.ai chats or credits back?
The new WSUP AI says accounts, purchases, characters and histories from the old platform did not transfer. I found no refund process on the pages I read.
Who owns WSUP AI?
For the original, the App Store and Google Play name Game.tv Inc. For the new one, no company or team is named on the site.
Is WSUP AI safe for kids?
It is not designed for them as far as the published pages show. No minimum age is stated and the home page offers an “Unfiltered” setting for explicit characters.
Conclusion
WSUP AI today means the new wsupai.app, an early, free-to-start character chat with no named operator and no published pricing or deletion process. The original wsup.ai is closed, even though its store pages remain visible. Use the new one only if you are an adult, keep personal details out of chats, and expect changes. Your next step: before signing in anywhere, run the five-point check above and read the current privacy policy yourself.
